PLEASING GOD 2
(week 45/13)
OLUBI JOHNSON

In our article last week, we saw what it is to and why we should please God.

This week, we will see how to please God in more detail.

How then do we please God?

By keeping the commandment of life and love and using the power, so generated and released to discern and do what will please God that has not been explicitly commanded.

1 John 3:22-24 KJV: and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.  (23) And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.  (24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit, which he hath given us.

John 20:31 KJV: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

We are to keep the commandment of life and love from our hearts through our mouths and actions DILIGENTLY throughout EACH day so ensuring a constant flow of God’s power into our souls: will, mind, emotions; bodies and circumstances to enable us to obey and please God CONSISTENTLY.

Deuteronomy 30:14 KJV: But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Summarizing, this means we keep God’s commandments by the blood (1 Jn. 1.7-10), the Word (1 Jn. 5.6) and the Spirit (1 Cor. 14.5):

(1) At least once every 6 hours:

Deuteronomy 6:7 KJV: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

This will then enable you to pray

(2) At every opportunity:

Ephesians 6:18 AMP: Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).

Doing this will in turn enable you to pray

(3) At every temptation:

Matthew 26:41 NIV: Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

Luke 21:36 KJV: Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

As we do this, we will fulfill and experience:

Proverbs 21:21 KJV: He that followeth after righteousness (right-standing by the blood) and mercy findeth life, righteousness (right-doing by the life and power of the Spirit), and honour.
